It's a risky business but rewards come in having you literally get a jump on your opponents.įortunately, the cars handle surprisingly well, given the arcade nature of the title. If this wasn't enough at such breakneck speeds, the player also has to decide which is the quickest of the multiple routes on a circuit or even try to find one of their own, jumping across chasms onto another part of the track. Racing through what may seem to be familiar sections of a circuit can become unpredictable. Logs that may have safely stowed behind fences on one lap can suddenly appear if accidentally released by one of the vehicles. Along with the 11 other opponents doing their best to spoil your day by ramming into your car, the tracks themselves can change from lap to lap as the many breakable and movable objects shift positions on the track. Most of the time, however, will be spent blazing around the different off-road circuits with their various surfaces including dirt, city, and snow. There's even a weaponised round, a sort of Mario Kart on steroids, where the AI excels in the high speed combat and the setting of devious traps. Each competition and cup consist of events from very mixed disciplines from simple races, time-based challenges, and the highly destructive and aggressive arena battles - essentially the last man standing against your equally aggressive AI opponents. There's a lot of content here for the fans.Ĭareer mode features various events spread across three different classes of vehicle, Derby, Classic and All-Star, with each class being faster and stronger than the previous. There's a career, quickplay, and multiplayer both online and offline. The FlatOut game mode featuring over 40 events alone that can be progressively unlocked. Kylotonn, to its credit, has done its best to stay true to the original titles in the franchise, featuring not only the demolition derby style racing but also the ludicrous but fun stunt mode with 12 very different but equally insane mini-games. ![]() Fortunately, the new title has been given to developer Kylotonn and publisher Bigben Interactive, the same partnership that brought us WRC 5 and WRC 6, and that experience shows. Criticism was aimed at the driving, handling, and physics that are essential for such a title. Recent titles in the franchise have not fared well. The title 'Total Insanity' is well deserved. Wrap this in a world which blazes past in a dizzying blur induced by the insane nitrous boost and you have an impression of what the title is about. ![]() It's one game where clean racing is not only discouraged, it probably won't win you many races or credits. The player is tasked with winning races taking any one of the multiple routes around the course, occasionally creating your own shortcuts where they didn't previously exist and disposing of opponents along the way by fair means or foul, with the latter providing a little more nefarious fun. The basic elements have remained unchanged throughout the various incarnations. It's a high speed demolition derby on various surfaces such as dirt, ice, and tarmac. The Achievement does not track more then one time the status per event. For the uninitiated, FlatOut is essentially off-road racing with no holds barred. Remark: You need to be destroyer and survivor at once in five different events. Repeat this 4 more times to get this Achievement. As soon as you destroyed the car you will be destroyer and survivor at the same time as there are no other players around. Now focus on destroying the car of the friend. ![]() Go into arena deathmach and select one minute for playtime. Start online multiplayer and start a privat session with one friend. But you can easily boost this with a friend. In single player this is difficult to achieve. You can see who has the status of destroyer and survivor by having a look at the Highscore list pressing digital pad left or right. You need to survive longer than every other player on the field without getting destroyed. To become destroyer you need to destroy the most players while not be destroyed. You need to be both, survivor (health symbol) and destroyer (fist-symbol) at the same time in an arena deathmatch.
